Catalyst

The installation is displayed during the Bintaro Design District (BDD) 2019. Inclusivity – as the theme of BDD 2019, seeks to promote and celebrate the power of design. The project evaluates architecture through an ephemeral lens, perceiving architecture as a soft infrastructure. Catalyst heavily investigates the mechanical system of a two-dimensional scissor joint, to generate a three-dimensional kinetic shelter system. Catalyst is aimed to be a playful and interactive installation for the users. The architecture will only activate itself through human interaction, thus requiring a “catalyst” for the project to emerge.
