Nestled within a 14.5m x 60m lot, the residence draws inspiration from the refined simplicity of Japanese design. The owner’s deep appreciation of Japanese culture is radiated towards the architecture. The design is a homage to the marriage of traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern ways of living.
The residence started with three hip roof massing. The architectural composition stems from the interaction of these three masses—stacked, truncated, and thoughtfully shifted. The interplay of these solids produces pockets of space throughout the site, creating a balanced composition between indoors and outdoors. Each mass carries a unique purpose, whether offering privacy, inviting light, or extending a welcome to the surrounding environment.
